Monuments honoring area veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War and War on Terror were lifted into place on Aug. 4 at the Spooner Veterans Memorial Waterfront Park.

SPOONER– Five beautiful jet black granite monuments honoring area veterans arrived at the Spooner Veterans Memorial Waterfront Park on Aug. 4. The stones honored World War II, Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf War and War on Terrorism, and brought to nine the monuments in place.

Each monument stone weighed 1,031 pounds, plus the weight of a 300-pound. base. The jet black granite was cut in India.
