Four seasons Anguilla and Bg restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman, just to name a few.The dwelling occupies an internal surface of about 250 square meters, to which are added almost 200 meters outside, and is characterized by the typical shape of a bungalow house. Before the renovation, the building had white walls and exposed dark beams: the space has been totally distorted and transformed into an open and fragmented plan, which has seen the addition of some effective architectural elements, such as the entrances, which from the traditional shape rectangular were redesigned to arch, and the doors of the kitchen and dining room, expanded with frames of dark Portoro marble. These measures, although not structural, have contributed to making the whole much more scenographic and harmonious, in perfect harmony with the owner's style and the sparkling energy of the surroundings. In addition to marble, present in various shapes and shades, other materials have also been used, such as stone.Throughout the residence, the floors and walls have been decorated with textured grids of cannon / bullock wallpaper sheets in a range of shades ranging in various shades of blue, coral and cream that change in each room. creating a continuous narrative and perfectly matching the carpets, made with geometric motifs.“I love the way these fabrics bring warmth and liveliness to the space, while contrasting with the smooth, fresh feel of the marble's characteristics,” said the designer. The dwelling is characterized by the use of colors that run through all the spaces and which harmonize well with the works of art and with the important quantity of designer furnishings, many of which have been specially customized, made by both masters of the past and as contemporary designers and artists. The entrance and foyer offer a series of circular shapes to the eye, composed of elements such as the opening of the round window on the staircase, Dante's Bavaresk round table, the mirror and, finally, the painting by the American painter Leonard Brenner, located in a dominant position in the entrance of the house. Also located in the entrance is the bathroom, made entirely with the neutral colors of silk, black and gray: the washbasin is made of striated stone on which the mirror and two Barovier & Toso wall lamps from the middle of the last century are superimposed. made of Murano glass.Harper avenue background of the wallpaper made in shades of aqua green, generating a sophisticated and metallic note in the space. The piece of furniture is positioned below a work by the famous American painter Lana Gomez and a three-element wall light by the French Jean Royére;the environment is completed by the sofa and chairs, made to custom designs, while in a corner of the room there is the Vilbert collection chair by Verner Panton, made for Ikea in the 1990s.In the kitchen, the large island, the dark-toned wall cabinets and window frames are offset by the neutral fabric chairs and the light-colored walls, decorated with a grid pattern, and the chandelier, made up of several elements in white. Many of the objects chosen to furnish the home were created in the last century by the most important names in international design: among these, a place of honor is occupied by Sybilla, an iconic piece by Ettore Sottsass, consisting of a table, a mirror and two lamps, located on the second floor of the building. Many customized elements were chosen among the furnishings, such as the sideboard made by Peter Shire, a famous Los Angeles artist, who has a formal, elegant and sophisticated design, embellished and made imaginative by bright colors.Large space covers the dining table, customized in bleached and ebonized oak and composed of a series of opposite volumes: a sphere and a cube act as the base for the shelf, formed by a large oval. The scene is completed by a set of dark chairs by Saporiti from the 1980s, characterized by a rounded back and seat supported by three rectangular legs. The dark color of the furniture goes well with the light tones of the floor and the cream and coral of the wallpaper and is echoed by the marble of the openings and the black skirting board that runs through the rooms. To add an extra personal touch, some of the homeowner's artwork has been translated into custom silk rugs and fabrics. The living room with bespoke seating and an opening onto the kitchen, framed by dark Portoro marble (photo Manolo Yllera)The idea behind the space renovation project was to celebrate the love for art, color and sculpture, paying homage to the lively neighborhood in which the house is located.Inspired by the paintings of one of the owners, who is an artist, a lively and playful, yet extremely sophisticated palette of colors was chosen: the spaces have a fresh, joyful spirit.A timeless place, where vintage and contemporary dialogue in unison;alongside pieces of historical names, such as Ettore Sottsass, Verner Panton and Jean Royère, there are objects made by new talents, such as Katie Stout, Misha Kahn and Anton Alvarez, expertly combined by the hand of Kelly Wearstler, who says he has also integrated some highly personal touches, through the custom carpets and upholstery.«You I am passionate about the tension that has been created in the house and that infuses an exciting energy, a soul and a plethora of conversations. This is an aspect that I love about my work: pushing the boundaries of design, exploring unconventional combinations to discover new and unexpected combinations ».A magical place, where the explosion of bright colors and hues cannot in any case be excessive, but rather eccentric, full of interesting and decisive ideas.A pure celebration of creativity, which abandons any rigid definition of schemes and rigor, to give life to a series of rooms with a high emotional and artistic density.(All rights reserved)The complete issue of MFL-Magazine For Living 56 can be found here.Light, shadow, mirrors.A
