It was a hot spring day in lower Manhattan as guests entered Mejuri Soho for an evening of celebratory beverages and baubles in honor of the fine jewelry brand’s latest collaboration with Claude Home. The vintage furniture and decor purveyor teamed up with Mejuri to create three limited-edition matte-finished modular art pieces, which also just happen to serve as both the perfect decor and display for your favorite jewelry.
Upon initial thought, one might wonder what connects the two woman-owned brand’s fortuitous foray into co-creation, melding the worlds of jewelry and homeware. But, of course, nothing Mejuri does is without intention, and synergistic collaboration has become synonymous with each launch. “The collaboration happened organically because we share the same design process that is focused on what we want to achieve, by going beyond the products we create,” said Mejuri creative director Justine Lançon. “We both wanted to create something that’s a part of your lifestyle and almost like a sculpture. The piece is more artful than just functional, like a jewelry display that matches how we design.”
Their design process drew inspiration from the naturalistic forms of a zen garden, resulting in two pieces carved in rich limestone, juxtaposed with an in-store exclusive red onyx option launching mid-May. Much like the harmonious team-up of brands, the shapes of each minimalist piece masterfully fit into one another like a puzzle. “This collection is one I’ve been so excited about, as it merges my love for stones and unique objects to serve as an everyday bowl for your most cherished pieces of jewelry,” Claude Home founder, Maggie Holladay told Vogue.
Amidst the modernist white marble backdrop, the downtown fashion community mingled with guests, including designer Batsheva Hay, model Aamito Lagum, Anna Van Patten, AJLT’s rising star Cathy Ang, and more. Near the wool abstract chairs, guests clamored to have the likeness of their outfit de jour captured in a personalized fashion sketch drawn live by illustrator Trivia Hiller (@trivvidraws). The occasion concluded with a plethora of crisp white Mejuri bags exiting the Soho Homebase onto Spring street. The voices filled the air with excitement over their new Mejuri pieces added to their ever-growing collection.
