No white marble for the pools facing the sea, in the renovated Piazza Betti. The observations of the planning commission on the waterfront projectMASS.That portoro marble fountain at the entrance to the Marina di Massa jetty, elegant yes, in black and gold, but totally out of context with respect to the Apuan Alps and the sea, is not to be done.Better to "think" of a natural local stone cladding. The town planning commission of the Municipality of Massa, which last Monday hosted three commissioners of the Landscaping, called to give their opinion, raised some critical issues on the redevelopment project of the Marina di Massa promenade, Piazza Betti and Pontile. The project, which could still see changes, receives the favorable opinion (but with reservations) of two out of three members of the landscape commission;some criticism on the lack of sensitivity for the historic conformation of the square, a "no" to the fountain in Portoro marble and obviously the request, especially by Forza Italia, to review the expenditure of 1.4 million euros, which will all fall on the municipal coffers .The administration aims at the restyling of Marina, starting from Piazza Betti, up to the pier and then with the two "wings" of the seafront towards Viareggio and Marina di Carrara, in a succession of oleander plants, palm trees, hedges and flower beds, a warm sand-colored asphalt, a wider promenade towards the sea equipped with blue, navy blue, dark blue and cream benches and a two-tone white-black aluminum welcome sign that says "Marina di Massa". Architectural barriers will also be removed and there will be punctual interventions to adapt the existing road network, the arrangement of roundabouts, reconfiguration of road intersections, construction of sidewalks and cycle paths;all the rows of flower beds that today characterize the walk from Piazza Betti towards the pier, will have a sinusoidal aspect and new palm trees will sprout. It will cost 1.4 million euros and according to Forza Italia director Luca Guadagnucci, the intervention could have been cheaper. Not only that: Guadagnucci agrees with the architect Nicola Gallo, the only one on the landscape commission to have expressed, during the meeting in the town planning commission, a negative opinion on the entire project: "There is no type of historical investigation on the seafront and on the square - he says. Gallo - and any comparison between the choices made today and those that characterized the past.New geometric motifs are inserted, which clash with the landscape and new vegetational aspects, which have nothing to do with the context of Marina ».«I agree with the exceptions raised by the architect Gallo - adds Guadagnucci - We cannot ignore a historical investigation, distort the geometry of a square and erase its distinctive features.Sinusoidal flower beds don't make any sense. Not to mention the Russian-style fountain, with that black marble that is not part of our tradition.I am also worried about the economic aspect and I would like clarity to be clarified in front of the municipal councilors on this aspect as well ».The landscaping commission, made up of architects Nicola Gallo and Niccolò Verdi and engineer Gaetano Farro nevertheless approved the project with some reservations, including the opportunity to eliminate "inconsistent" materials, and use local natural stone coatings, and some advice on mixtures for colored asphalting. After all, the fountain overlooking the sea and the Apuan Alps could be better made of white marble. The total cost of the work remains, quantified at 1.4 million euros (calculated on the basis of the prices applied by the Public Works, Civil Protection and Building Control sector found from the price list of the Tuscany Region for the Province of Massa Carrara), financed entirely by Common.SAE Group (SAPERE AUDE EDITORI) SpA, Viale Vittorio Alfieri n.9 - 57124 Livorno - PI 01954630495The rights of the images and texts are reserved.Their reproduction by any means and total or partial adaptation is expressly prohibited.
