English designer Marc Newson, famous for his use of sinuous and feminine shapes, designed the bar space of the Puerta America hotel in Madrid (as well as the rooms on the sixth level).Newson offers very modern and sophisticated environments, playing with the use of few materials: in the bar, the space is dominated by a counter made of white-veined statuary marble, coming from the Carrara quarries, a volume of over 6 tons of weight and 8 meters of length. It was the first piece to be installed in the Puerta America hotel, before the ventilated facade and is already visible from the reception through huge glass doors. The first thing that draws attention is the height of what looks like a gallery, almost 7 meters in which the aluminum shapes are arranged to obtain a vertical design that produces a greater sensation of breadth of the bar, as well as depth and rhythm. This wall is pierced by two large private rooms with white leather seats for customers who want more tranquility or privacy. The tables are located on a leather-lined platform. The opposite wall that opens onto the outdoor terrace is completely made of glass. So from the inside you can see what is happening outside, in the garden. This is a pleasant place, ideal for relaxing and having a drink after a day of work or after visiting the city. The gray marble of the floor is smooth and shiny, so much so that it acts as a mirror. On the terrace you will also find a bit of Made in Italy: the One chairs, by the German designer Konstantin Grcic for the Magis brand.© 2005-2022 Deva Connection srl - All rights reserved.Design Mag, newspaper registered at the Court of Rome n ° 63 of 4 May 2022
