Having just sold her serene Hollywood Hills retreat to influencer Madison Beer, it’s no surprise that Ashley Tisdale has been back on the real estate prowl. This time, the “High School Musical” star and longtime property aficionado has pounced on a midcentury, buying a ranch-style residence originally built in 1948 and located elsewhere in the hills, though not far from her former home.

The property’s seller was billionaire Johnson & Johnson heiress Jaime Johnson, who sold the place to Tisdale for about $6.2 million. While that’s slightly less than what Johnson had asked when she put the place up for sale over the summer, it’s also comfortably over the $3.3 million she originally paid five years ago. That figure is also a big number for this neighborhood pocket of the Hollywood Hills, which is quieter and much more low-key than flashier areas like the Bird Streets and Sunset Strip.

But it’s not hard to see the attraction. Surrounded by enormous privet hedges and guarded by a big driveway gate, Tisdale’s new compound is essentially invisible from the street. During her stay, Johnson gave the house a stylishly contemporary makeover that likely cost a small fortune, and there’s also a separate guesthouse with an additional bedroom suite, plus Japanese-esque gardens and a classically kidney-shaped swimming pool.

Sliding glass doors throughout the home flood the mostly single-story structure with natural light, while honey-hued hardwood floors and original post and beam ceilings add to the visual warmth. The living room offers a fireplace with a fluted plaster surround; the chic kitchen has ultra-premium appliances, waterfall quartz counters and cabinets bathed in a stunning shade of dark olive green.

The main house is also equipped with four bedrooms, including a primary suite with a bathroom trimmed in gold Calacatta marble  and a walk-in closet with rare Douglas fir paneling. Other spaces include a dining room with pricey Apparatus light fixtures and a “hidden” basement level with a professional screening room/movie theater. Naturally, the house is also equipped with a high-end security/audiovisual smart system.

Spanning just over a third of an acre, the relatively spacious property is filled with bountiful, magazine-worthy gardens crafted by noted landscape designers Terremoto, and there are vegetable gardens and fruit trees that envelope the petite guesthouse. A towering hedge wall partially surrounds the swimming pool and its poolside patio, provide celebrity-style privacy for swimmers and sunbathers alike.

Tisdale, 37, is a New Jersey native and self-professed “real estate lover” who has bought and sold many Los Angeles homes over the years, most of them in the Hollywood Hills and Los Feliz neighborhoods. She first rose to fame in the 2000s hit Disney Channel sitcom “The Suite Life” but remains best-known for portraying Sharpay Evans in “High School Musical” and her subsequent music career.
