This two-floor loft condominium at 11 Vestry Street isn’t your ordinary downtown loft space, though it has classic bones and a covetable Tribeca address. In addition to a picture-perfect warm-modern renovation, state-of-the-art appliances and huge windows, the loft’s lower floor is a self-contained space with a second kitchen. Like any loft, it would be easy to configure the space however you’d like, but the current version–asking $6.195 million–has plenty of interesting nooks and crannies. The home’s transformation from its former outdated ’80s look by Brooklyn-based architecture and design firm Isaac-Rae was featured in Dwell magazine.

While retaining the warmth of 100+-year-old wood beams, the 3,100 square-foot two-story apartment received a complete overhaul. Its new look features reclaimed white oak, teak, walnut, limestone, brick and thick slabs of dramatic marble. The flexible layout currently includes four bedrooms and three baths.

An elevator opens to the 2,300-square-foot upper floor ; a large living room has a wood-burning fireplace with a built-in wrap around limestone bench, bookshelves and a reading nook.

Tall steel doors slide to separate an adjacent bedroom/study. On one of the room’s walls is a verdant vertical garden.

A sleek-but-solid chef’s dream kitchen is open to the main room and features custom cabinetry and a Calacatta Borghini marble island. Appliances include a Gaggenau cooktop, a combi-steam oven, a Sub Zero refrigerator and a expansive walk-in pantry with two additional Sub Zero drawer refrigerators and a wine fridge.

Also on the upper floor, an art gallery hallway connects the living/eating/study spaces with a soundproof master suite. You’ll also find a third bedroom, a guest bathroom, separate laundry and plenty of storage. The master bath is filled with luxurious details like a custom teak vanity, an oversized bathtub on a raised platform and double shower with lasered Bianco Dolomiti marble and Flos lighting.

The 800 square foot lower floor could easily be another apartment or a fabulous entertaining or guest suite, with a large media room/second living room, a second kitchen/ wet bar with Sub Zero fridge drawers, a Miele dishwasher and a marble-topped bench. A spacious fourth bedroom uses three connected sliding doors which add more flexibility to the home’s layout (the two rooms could be combined).  Under the stairs is “secret” room with double folding doors that could be a gym, home office or storage space. The lower floor has a separate entrance in addition to the stairs. Modern smart home additions include Cat6/7 Ethernet and cable in every room, Lutron lighting and mobile app-controlled three-zone HVAC and humidifier.
