Home »The new look of Louis Vuitton's Florentine boutiqueThe French fashion house has over 300 single-brand boutiques worldwide and recently, given the importance of the city of Florence, it has intervened in an important renovation of the store housed in the historic location of Palazzo Mattei.The building dating back to the end of the 19th century, located in the central Piazza degli Strozzi, was commissioned by the Mattei family and built on a project by Arch.Mazzanti, in nineteenth-century style with references to the early Renaissance and Mannerism, which arose within the framework of the urban and building transformations carried out by the local engineer and architect Giuseppe Poggi, in the five-year period 1865 -1870 of Florence, the capital.Palazzo Mattei, with its imposing dimensions, has four different views and is organized on four floors for seven axes, with a succession of arches on the ground bearing lions' heads in key.The building is at the center of the renovation where the architecture is the shop's masterpiece, in fact the historical volumes of the space have been recreated, as well as the insertion of prints and decorations, dating back to 1865, thus consolidating the link with the city of Florence.The renovation, carried out by a team of architects inside the maison, was hidden for almost two years, until the long-awaited reopening dating back to last March 2019.The Florentine boutique of Louis Vuitton, overlooking Via degli Strozzi, occupies the ground floor and mezzanine of the building, enveloped by the natural light that enters, along symmetrical volumes, from the round arches of the openings.Decorated with strong references to the Florentine style, we find light floors in Navona Travertine alternating with surfaces of Rosso Levanto, Giallo Siena, Breccia medicea and Pietra Serena marble, combined with a chromatic spectrum of light shades, from beige to a bouquet of whites, enhanced from a careful study of light design.The design element that stands out inside the shop is the staircase, visible from the entrance door which represents a real work of art, with the handrail completely covered in leather, in a deep Florentine blue color, symbol of the family.
