Greece has become the latest country to announce that it will be dropping all of its travel restrictions in the coming months. From May 2 all of the remaining Covid-related travel restrictions in the popular holiday destination will be lifted according to the country’s health minister, Thanos Plevris.

In a statement made on Tuesday (April 12), Mr Plevris said that Greece planned "to proceed with the suspension of the protection measures put in place from 1 May.".

In practice, this will mean that Greece’s use of vaccine certificates, recovery certificates and its requirement to wear masks in indoor public places will no longer be enforced.

However, the Greek Health Minister stopped short of saying that the restrictions will be lifted permanently, emphasising that the relaxed measures will be reviewed again in September.

As it currently stands, until May 2 all arrivals to Greece will still be required to present one of the following forms of proof; proof of two jabs; proof of recovery from Covid within the past 180 days; or a negative PCR test (within 72 hours) or antigen test (24 hours) result in order to enter the country.
