New York’s Long Island splits in two as it pushes east into the Atlantic Ocean. The North Fork is the quieter, more laid-back, and not quite so insanely expensive counterpart to the South Fork, a.k.a. the Hamptons. Indeed, some old timers even refer to the North Fork as the Unhamptons. Here, vineyards, old family farms, and horse estates surround small towns filled with quaint inns, chic restaurants and picturesque Victorian houses.
