By Focus Stone / April 6, 2022Print Email The natural stone sector has been excluded from the sectoral measures adopted by the Government and, as reported by the Andalusian Marble Business Association, the situation of the natural stone sector in this region "is extremely risk".“This industry has been excluded from all the sectoral measures approved, by the Council of Ministers, in Royal Decree-Law 6/2022, of March 29, by which urgent measures are adopted within the framework of the National Response Plan to economic and social consequences of the war in Ukraine. With this, neither the companies belonging to this industry, nor the primary mining sector, will be able to benefit from the aid that the Executive will launch within this Plan, which plans to mobilize 16,000 million euros of public resources;6,000 million of them in direct aid and tax reductions, and 10,000 through a new line of guarantees managed through the ICO”, AEMA has indicated. The suffocating rise in the price of electricity and fuel led the Association of Andalusian Marble Entrepreneurs (AEMA), together with the companies of the Marble Region and their workers, to organize a protest act on March 24, in which urged the Government of Spain not only to take measures in this regard, but also to include this industry in the aid to mitigate this increase in costs. The requests, despite being part of one of the most affected productive sectors, have fallen on deaf ears.“The survival of our industry is unfeasible if the Government ignores our needs within this Plan”, explains the president of AEMA, Jesús Posadas, who, together with part of the board of directors, has already met twice with the secretary of State of Democratic Memory of the Government of Spain, Fernando Martínez and the Undersecretary of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Pablo Garde, to try to save the situation. The president of the marble businessmen, who describes the situation as "unsustainable", fears for the destruction, not only of the entire productive fabric, but of the 5,000 permanent direct jobs and 12,500 indirect ones that, today, account this industry. For this reason, and given the great discomfort that this sector is currently suffering, the marble employer asks that "their demands be reconsidered", otherwise, "the Association of Andalusian Marble Entrepreneurs will continue to take more drastic measures" with the firm objective of preventing its industry from falling into a deep economic crisis.Print Email Posted: 2 months ago on April 6, 2022 By: Focus Piedra Last
